JD was born and raised in Dallas, Texas, and has been working as a full time artist in the Dallas/Fort Worth area since 2013. A year after he graduated high school in 2010, he started a tattoo apprenticeship at Last Angels Tattoo in Dallas, under Gerald Garcia and graduated to Artist two years later. He has created art since early childhood but it wasn't until he began his tattoo journey when he picked up oil painting. JD began to seriously pursue a career in studio art in 2017 in a shared studio space formally called the Basement Gallery, now Elevate Studios, in Oak Cliff, Tx. In 2022 JD joined the 3rd cohort at the Cedars Union Art Incubator, a residency that last 18 months. After a nearly sold out solo show at Pencil on Paper Gallery, JD is presently producing new paintings, completing mural projects, and tattooing his clientele.
